May 5, 2021 marks the day that the UL 943 code affecting self-testing GFCI protection for portable power equipment takes effect. This UL Standard affects GFCI’s used in portable power applications.
The updated standard applied to installed GFCI’s several years ago and is now a requirement for portable power applications as well. Combined with UL 1640, Open Neutral Protection, makes portable power significantly safer. Ericson’s NEXT series of portable power products - Portable Distribution Units (often called Spider Boxes or PDU’s), Compact Distribution Units (CDU), Portable Power Centers (PDC) and Portable Power Transformation Units (PTU), is the only product line in the industry to incorporate all these code compliant technologies to make jobsite power safer. At Ericson Safety is our Standard.
